Steven Shelov, MD, MS
I am passionate about advancing the health of children and families and am a dedicated leader in medical education. As the founding dean and a professor of pediatrics at NYU Long Island School of Medicine, I’m excited about educating the next generation of physicians in primary care.
I completed my pediatric residency at Montefiore Medical Center and have been in academic leadership positions for my entire career. Previously, I served as vice chair and professor of pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine; chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Maimonides Medical Center; vice president at Lutheran Medical Center, before it became NYU Lutheran Medical Center; chair of pediatrics at Cohen Children’s Medical Center at Northwell Health; and the associate dean for Undergraduate Medical Education at Winthrop-University Hospital, before it became NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island.
I’ve authored more than 15 books and 100 articles and abstracts, and have been the recipient of numerous academic awards, including national awards in medical education and leadership from prominent academic organizations.
