Financial Aid for MD Students Cost of Attendance

Cost of Attendance

NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine is committed to improving the affordability of medical education through our transformational financial aid program. All current and entering students are automatically awarded a Full-Tuition Scholarship to our MD degree program. When you enroll, a tuition charge appears on your bill along with a credit for the Full-Tuition Scholarship that offsets this charge. For the 2024-25 academic year, this amounts to a scholarship of $62,302 per student. Additionally, all students are automatically enrolled in NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine’s basic individual health insurance plan at no cost to the student. The charge for this insurance is fully-subsidized by the school which translates into a savings of $5,781 per student.

We also offer need-based Debt-Free Scholarships to students who financially qualify, to help pay for the costs of attendance that exceed tuition such as housing, food, books, and other miscellaneous expenses. Students must apply for this need-based scholarship annually, as your personal and family financial circumstances may change year to year. To be considered for a Debt-Free Scholarship, you are required to submit financial information about yourself, your parents, and spouse (if applicable) on the CSS Profile. We use the CSS Profile calculations to determine your annual estimated family contribution (EFC). NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine will meet any shortfall between the annual EFC amount and the remaining costs of attendance that exceed tuition with a need-based Debt-Free Scholarship.

For those students who may not financially qualify for a need-based Debt-Free Scholarship, we are able to offer federal loans to eligible students upon submission of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Students must sustain satisfactory academic progress and uphold professionalism standards while in medical school in order to maintain eligibility to receive Full-Tuition and Debt-Free scholarships.

The table below represents tuition, fees, and additional expenses that approximate the cost of attending NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine for students enrolling in the 2024-25 academic year. These costs are used when determining student eligibility for the need-based Debt-Free Scholarship and federal loans (if applicable). Please note that individual circumstances determine your exact cost-of-living expenses. Fees for the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) are only assessed during the years when the examinations are taken.
