Professor, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine
My research interests lie within advancing medical educators in teaching abilities, scholarly activity and research fundamentals. I have published on the value of faculty development programs, emphasizing the influence of theory and conceptual frameworks on these initiatives. Nationally, I am an active leader in several organizations for faculty affairs in academic medicine, where I remain committed to creating and implementing evidence-based initiatives for faculty growth and success.
I am also a licensed occupational therapist with board certification in gerontology, a distinction less than 1% of occupational therapists hold nationally. The complexities of aging and multi-faceted needs of older adults is something that I have always found intriguing, and so I have studied and written on the importance of comprehensive geriatric assessments in the inpatient setting, ensuring that all care providers on the interprofessional team realize and value the input of one another. I have a passion for geriatric rehabilitation and educating older adults in the community to live safely in their homes. My background as an allied healthcare professional with a research degree in the social sciences allows me to bring a unique perspective to the physician faculty I work with.
