Mentorship & Professional Development
Part of our mission as educators at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine is to provide our students and faculty with opportunities to thrive academically and professionally. We offer a variety of programs to support the educational goals of our students and the career paths of our physicians and academics.
Our medical students benefit from an array of advising services, including one-on-one academic coaching, specialty advising, role-matched mentoring, peer mentoring and tutoring, and several academic workshops. Our clubs and activities for MD students include interest groups that offer professional development and mentoring in primary care specialties such as family medicine and pediatrics. Medical students can also develop their mentoring skills while advising local high school and college students through the Envision Scholars Academy.
We also offer development and mentoring programs to support the professional growth of our faculty. Workshops sharpen skills to improve faculty teaching, and a scholars program teaches junior faculty how to research, present, and publish. Our midlevel faculty benefit from a mentoring program that guides them through the process of academic promotion and a coaching program for short-term support in publishing and building academic portfolios. Mentoring and promotion support are also available to our junior faculty. In addition, robust continuing medical education programs are available to our faculty through NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
