Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine is committed to providing our community with comprehensive care that increases the functionality and quality of life for patients. Through dynamic education and research programs, we bring the latest technological advances and methodologies in the field to our practice. We provide clinical services as part of NYU Langone Health’s Rusk Rehabilitation.
Education
The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is an integral part of the MD curriculum at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine. Medical students rotate through our clinical sites during their neurology and rehabilitation elective block. NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine is one of only a small number of medical schools in the country that require clinical experience in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Our department trains the next generation of physicians through an array of opportunities that balance teaching, research, and clinical activities. Medical students, residents, and fellows rotate with the physical medicine and rehabilitation attendings.
Research
Our team leads patient-focused research programs in areas including electrodiagnostic medicine, women in medicine, and wellness and burnout. Department chair Lyn D. Weiss, MD, has published 10 books on various areas of physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Our faculty engage in research in collaboration with Rusk Rehabilitation. Learn more about research at Rusk Rehabilitation.
