Summary

I am an Associate Professor in the Center for Population and Health Services Research at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine, with a joint appointment in the Department of Population Health at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. With a training background in health services research and health policy and management, I have research experience in identifying barriers and disparities in access, quality, and outcomes related to cardiometabolic disease prevention and treatment. I apply multidisciplinary approaches to examine the complexity of healthcare systems and population health management.

Since joining NYU in 2022, I have been leading a project evaluating the impact of health policies - particularly health insurance, telehealth and drug policies - on hypertension management and control. I am also working on projects examining the implementation outcomes and cost-effectiveness of remote patient monitoring for managing hypertension in multiple clinical settings and patient populations within the NYU Langone Health system.

In addition, I have been working on pilot projects examining factors that affect access to newer diabetes drugs and associated clinical outcomes, with a focus on the influence of insurance benefit designs and Medicare drug policies. Furthermore, I have been examining how food policies can improve adherence to a healthy diet, biomarkers, cardiometabolic and cognitive outcomes. My overarching goal is to inform health policy changes and drive improvements in patient care and health equity.

Before joining the faculty at NYU, I was a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the University of Georgia College of Public Health. My research has been funded by the NIH, CDC, and foundations. I have authored or co-authored over 150 publications, served as a grant reviewer for the NIH, CDC, and AHRQ, and am a member of the American Heart Association and AcademyHealth. I have also mentored more than 25 master’s, doctoral students, and postdoctoral scholars.
