Department of Emergency Medicine Clinical Services
Located in Mineola, Long Island, the team in the Emergency Department at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island provides exceptional emergency care to adults and children. With a staff of board-certified emergency physicians, experienced advanced practice practitioners, highly trained emergency department nurses, and a dedicated emergency department pharmacist available at all times, we provide care to approximately 87,000 patients each year.
Our main emergency department has 60 treatment spaces, including a 3-bed critical care resuscitation suite. In addition, we have a separate dedicated pediatric emergency department with 10 treatment spaces staffed by pediatric emergency medicine physicians and nurses. We also have a five-bed state-of-the art trauma unit, the Trauma Center at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island.
NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is certified by the Joint Commission as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. We are also a New York State–designated Level 1 Trauma Center, verified by the American College of Surgeons. Cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology are available at all hours. We also have an outstanding program to provide prompt and aggressive care to patients with sepsis. In addition, we offer a vast array of consultative services.
Department of Emergency Medicine faculty, who staff the emergency department, are mentors to NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine trainees. The emergency department is also a leading center for academic research.
