Plan and Commit to Enroll Policies

NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine participates in the AMCAS Choose Your Medical School Tool, which applicants use to communicate their decision about which school they plan to attend. Using the AMCAS Choose Your Medical School Tool, you may select either the “Plan to Enroll” or “Commit to Enroll” option. If you select the “Plan to Enroll” option, you can continue to remain on other school’s alternate lists, as well as interview at other schools.

When you select “Commit to Enroll,” this indicates that you have made your final decision to attend NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine and are withdrawing all other acceptances, alternate list offers, or any outstanding medical school applications.

For the 2024-25 application cycle, all applicants who are accepted to NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine and who plan to matriculate must select the “Commit to enroll” option no later than June 18, 2025. You must withdraw from all other acceptances and alternate lists by that date. Failure to adhere to these policies may result in your acceptance offer being rescinded.

Acceptance Policies

Offers of acceptance are contingent upon successful completion of an undergraduate bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited in the United States or Canada by the time of matriculation.

All enrolled students are required to have health and disability insurance. All accepted students must agree to abide by all school policies, including the student immunizations policy and the mandatory influenza and COVID-19 vaccination policies. More information about these policies, as well as core educational competencies for medical students, is available in our student handbook.

Deferred Matriculation Policy

Under limited circumstances, accepted students may request a one-time, one-year deferral of matriculation. A formal request for a deferred matriculation must be submitted in writing to the Associate Dean for Admissions by April 1 of the current application cycle. Approval is not guaranteed; all deferral requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Students accepted from the waitlist are not eligible for deferred matriculation.
