We offer housing assistance to NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine medical students. Students are guaranteed housing offers when they first matriculate. Housing Options for Medical Students

Medical students at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine are eligible to live in Nassau Towers and Richlee Gardens. Single students are guaranteed housing when first matriculating. Housing for couples and families may be available. Learn more about the housing policy for couples and families.

Real Estate and Housing, an administrative affiliate of NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine, shares the goal of providing safe and comfortable living environments for students, including those whose gender identities differ from the sexes assigned to them at birth.

Due to limitations in housing availability, there is no guarantee that housing preferences can be met, but we are committed to working with the associate dean of NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine’s Office of Student Affairs and those who are seeking housing to make best efforts for accommodations.

Smoking and pets are not permitted. A student requesting to live with a support animal may start the approval process by contacting the Office of Student Affairs at MEDLI.Students@NYULangone.org or 516-240-7200 (select option 2).

Nassau Towers

Nassau Towers is located directly across the street from the main entrance of NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island. It is a four-story building with studio, small and large one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments.

Each unit is provided with seasonal heat and air conditioning and window shades. Apartments have a common area, bathroom, and kitchen. Kitchens are equipped with a refrigerator, stove, oven, and sink. Microwave ovens are not provided.

Richlee Gardens

Richlee Gardens is an apartment complex with small and large one-bedroom and two-bedroom units located approximately six blocks from NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island. Each unit is provided seasonal heat and air conditioning. Apartments have a common area, bathroom, and kitchen. Kitchens are equipped with a refrigerator, stove, oven, and sink. Microwave ovens and window treatments are not provided. The Richlee Gardens apartment complex does not have elevators or storage facilities.

Suites are single gender, with a few voluntary exceptions. Personal refrigerators of any size may not be brought into the building, and cooking appliances may not be used in bedrooms.

Student Housing Lottery for Current Medical Students

Each spring, eligible medical students can apply for housing transfers for the following year through a housing lottery. Students residing off campus may participate if they wish to request to move into campus housing. Note that lottery moves are scheduled to take place during June or July, including weekends and holidays. The move schedule is announced in early June.

The housing lottery policy and procedures are updated each year. Students are notified via email when the process starts, and detailed policies and instructions are provided.

Applying for Housing as an Incoming Student

Newly matriculated NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine students may apply for housing. Requests are reviewed according to the order in which the applications are received.

Housing Registration

If you are interested in NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine housing, your first step is to register in our data system. Please register only once. Please note that registration is not by itself a housing application. If you have any questions regarding registration, please contact LIHousing@NYULangone.org.

After you complete the registration process, you will receive an email informing you that your registration is under review. Please allow time for review. After approval, you will receive an email providing you with login credentials so that you can return to the portal and complete a housing application. Please do not register again.

Charges, Billing, and Payments

The NYU Bursar’s Office bills medical students for housing costs for the fall and spring terms. If a student vacates or changes housing during a billing period, that information will be submitted to the bursar for adjusted billing. Please note that Housing Services staff cannot view bills from the NYU Bursar’s Office. For more information on charges and billing, contact the NYU Bursar’s Office.

Renewing Your License

The housing license is renewable as long as the student remains eligible. Students who are not graduating can, via the annual housing lottery, request to vacate their NYU Langone housing on June 30, after having given appropriate advance notice. Graduating students are required to vacate on May 31 of their graduation year.

Subletting

Students with NYU Langone housing may apply to sublet their housing spaces to an NYU affiliate who is eligible for an NYU or NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island ID card (Housing Services does not provide ID cards). Sublets of 4 to 12 weeks per academic year are permitted for each student, with the permission of roommates, if applicable. Download the subletting policy and forms to begin the subletting process.
