Resident Life at the NYU Langone—Long Island Surgical Residency Program
NYU Langone—Long Island’s Surgical Residency Program offers a comprehensive and diverse range of rotations, including Vascular Surgery, Surgical Oncology, ENT/Head and Neck, Minimally Invasive Surgery/Bariatrics, General Surgery, Burn Surgery, SICU, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Night Float, Consults, Community Hospital Rotation, Colorectal Surgery, Trauma Surgery, and Transplant. We also provide opportunities for elective rotations, allowing residents to tailor their training to their interests.
For those passionate about research, we have an established track that offers two years of dedicated research following the completion of the PGY2 year, empowering residents to contribute to advancements in surgical care.
We spend significant time in the operating room, honing their surgical skills, while also engaging in patient care on the floors and in outpatient clinics. We believe that exceptional patient care goes hand in hand with resident well-being. Our residents enjoy living on Long Island, home to historical manors, beautiful hiking trails, and some of the best beaches on the east coast. Plus, the bustling heart of New York City is just a short direct train ride away, providing easy access to all that the city has to offer.
Resident Life at the NYU Langone—Long Island Surgical Residency Program
In addition to our rigorous training, we foster a strong sense of community within our program. We regularly organize events that allow residents to bond outside of the clinical setting. From paintball and wine vineyard tours to dinners such as ‘Friendsgiving’, happy hours, softball games, and trips to amusement parks, there’s always something exciting happening. We participate in a department wide initiative for community outreach. We have cleaned up local beaches, and organized a food pantry event.
At NYU Langone—Long Island, we are more than just a community of healthcare professionals; we are a family dedicated to supporting each other both personally and professionally. Join us and experience the rewarding journey of residency in a nurturing and dynamic environment.
