Why I chose NYU Long Island School of Medicine: I wanted to be in a close-knit supportive environment, and as soon as I stepped foot here I realized how warm and welcoming everyone was. The large volume of patients was also a plus as I knew that would key in getting great training. Location was also very important to me, and I wanted to be close to my family (but not that close).

Why I chose NYU Long Island School of Medicine: The never-ending support! We are all a big family and want to see each other succeed. From day one of first year, everyone is welcoming and makes the transition into residency as smooth as possible. From attendings and co-residents to nurses and scrub techs (and everyone in between), I know I always have someone to turn to for mentorship, life advice, dinner dates, cat sitting, and more!

Why I chose NYU Long Island School of Medicine: I grew up on Long Island, and I knew that I wanted to be close to family and friends during residency. My family lives about 15 minutes away from the hospital, so it’s very easy to see them whenever I want. Also, the residents were very friendly and welcoming during the meet and greet. During conversations I felt that our personalities were similar and that we clicked really well.

Why I chose NYU Long Island School of Medicine: After interviewing with this program I knew I wanted to be part of the school’s obstetrics and gynecology family; I could not picture myself at any other program. The residents are truly supportive of one another and make the long hours worth it! The program has access to all subspecialties and encourages us to explore our research and clinical interests from intern year and beyond. This program trains residents to have a strong clinical and surgical background and to be ready for life after residency.

Throughout the entire interview season, I remember reaching out to current residents who spent time on the phone with me answering all of my questions, and even welcoming me into their homes. We clicked instantly, and I knew I had found my people. Within my first month, I befriended the residents, nurses, and many attendings. Residency is hard, but easier when you go into work with friends every day and feel supported. I’m also glad to be in close proximity to my family and friends.
