Pediatrics Residency

NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine’s Pediatrics Residency provides outstanding primary and specialty care training in a collegial and friendly environment. Our residents care for a diverse patient population and receive training in a wide variety of disease pathology that prepares them well for a career as a pediatrics generalist or specialist based in a hospital or at an office.

Our three-year residency program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Residents are supported and guided as they make important decisions about both patient care and their careers. As residents’ experience and responsibilities increase, they are encouraged to take on additional leadership roles and make more decisions about the care of patients with supervision from faculty. This prepares our residents for independent practice and self-directed acquisition of basic scientific knowledge and cognitive and technical skills.

Clinical training takes place at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island and other inpatient and outpatient settings. You train alongside our faculty, who are recognized for their expertise in patient care, teaching, and research, and are actively engaged in medical education across the continuum.

Our graduates are well prepared for successful careers post-residency, and many go on to leadership roles in prestigious academic medical centers. We are especially proud that our residents go on to fellowships in highly competitive specialties in top programs across the country. The success of our graduates is a reflection of our program’s quality.

The residency program is overseen by Jill A. Leavens-Maurer, MD, program director. Learn more about NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine’s Pediatrics Residency curriculum.
