NYU Long Island School of Medicine Faculty Council
The Faculty Council of NYU Long Island School of Medicine serves a vital role as the voice of faculty in the governance of NYU Langone Health and NYU Long Island School of Medicine. It is composed of faculty members who are elected by their departments, officers who are chosen by elected department representatives, and faculty senators who are elected by the entire faculty.
The Faculty Council has several committees whose members focus on various areas of interest and concerns and interact with representatives from NYU Long Island School of Medicine administration to address important topics. The Faculty Council considers all matters that impact faculty, including benefits, infrastructure, medical student education, graduate medical education, faculty teaching, well-being, tenure and promotions, and benefits.
The Faculty Council also runs elections for faculty-wide NYU Long Island School of Medicine committees, including the Admissions Executive Committee, Grievance Committee, Student Progress and Promotions Committee, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Evolving Physician Education Committee, and Promotions and Tenure Committee.
