Emergency Medicine Residency Application
All applications to the Emergency Medicine Residency at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and must include a medical student performance evaluation, an official medical school transcript, an official copy of U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) scores or an official copy of Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX) scores, a personal statement, and at least two standardized letters of evaluation (SLOE) written by a program director, clerkship director, or other leader in emergency medicine medical education. Applicants have the option to submit an additional SLOE or a letter of recommendation from an additional faculty member.
We only consider applicants who have passed Step 1 of the USMLE and who intend to take or passed Step 2 of the USMLE or have passed Level 1 of the COMLEX and intend to take or passed Level 2.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to have all application documents submitted by the first week in October. The residency selection committee will review all completed applications after they are released. NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine notifies applicants who are selected for an interview on a rolling basis beginning in mid-October.
Interviews for residency positions take place from late October through January for positions beginning in July. Applicants selected for an interview are contacted by email. A limited number of candidates are selected for an interview, and no candidate is ranked without an interview. We accept six residents per year.
For medical students interested in learning more about our program by rotating with us at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island, we have clinical rotation opportunities available to visiting students through our subinternship elective.
